Now the dust has settled around ICS, I thought I’d write a little something on upcoming improvements to AndChat.
Firstly, there is a lot of work being done to make AndChat work great on ICS. The main improvement being worked on is the userlist handling, which will be similar to how it works on Honeycomb and slight changes to the UI. The challenging part with the userlist is the small screen real estate and nick selection and I’m working hard to find a nice way to get it to work.

….in the US. Right now, its Season 2 Episode 14. In the UK, they started showing Season 2 on Channel 5 which shows ads every 10 mins . Obviously I’m not gonna sit through that crap, so I’m watching it via “other” means.
Anyway, its getting pretty intense right now, they have a major new ally and they plan to go for the big fish now
. If you don’t watch Prison Break, you dunno what you’re missing.
On a side note, my blog is now updated to WordPress 2.1. Some plugins need to be updated to work, but so far, nothing borked at the front end (not that I’ve noticed). If you do see something not working, send me an email via my Contact Page.

I’ve been testing out Ubuntu on an old laptop I managed to get hold off. So far, the main problem has been getting a decent window manager set up, since the laptop spec is too slow to work with the default Gnome. Another problem has been wifi and static ip. I hate using dhcp (dynamic ip), but using wpa supplicant I managed to get static ip working.
Using Network Manager Gnome was recommended, but since I needed to put in the keyring password everytime I booted, and the method to bypass this wouldn’t work with auto login, I had to find an alternative to be able to log in to my home network, i.e wpa supplicant.
Next few things I need to get done is: setup fluxbox, an alternative window manager for low end systems, install some “killer” apps, and start learning Linux properly.
I’ve wanted to learn Linux for a long time, but using it on my windows laptop is a big NO, since I don’t like dual booting, even when I used Vista, dual booting was hassle, and it becomes annoying having to reboot to get back to Windows, and not being able to access my files properly unless I use an unstable and risky Linux NTFS driver, or format my HD using FAT32

Steve Jobs announced the iPhone at his keynote. If you haven’t read about it already, head over to the iPhone site and check out the demo. Feature packed and looks SLICK!!!!
Engadet has the first photos (or so they say so
), yo can see it here: Engadet Gallery.
This seriously looked like next hot thing, and imo, blows the MS Zune miles away.
You might also be able to catch the keynote later at this link. Make sure you watch it!!!!
Funnily enough, Linksys also has a product called iPhone that was launched before Apple.
Update: Looks like Cisco (Linksys’ parent company) is gonna sue Apple for using their trademark.

I got tired of uploading and downloading files to test changes to my site, so I installed WordPress on my laptop.
If you wanna do the same for testing, this site has a excellent and easy to follow tutorial.
If you haven’t bothered to watch the Bill Gate’s keynote at CES ’07 (Consumer Electronics Show), you can find recorded streams at the links below. He made some very interesting announcements:
100K Stream | 220K Stream | 500K Stream
You can keep up to date with the latest CES news at the Neowin Events Blog.

On Boxing Day, I went to Central London to do some shopping. While I was there, I popped into HMV to buy some games. I choose FEAR and Half Life 2, both for a reasonable price. I got home, removed the plastic covering, and I find out that the HL2 game still has the security tag on it (no I didnt steal the game from the shop). I was really fucking pissed off, I decide to buy a game, and suddenly I can’t play it because of a fuck up by retarded employees. I couldn’t be bothered to wait till the next day to get an exchange, so I broke the case slightly and took the tag out. Luckily, the CD had just a minor scratch on it, and I managed to install it without problems.
Right now, I’m playing FEAR, it is a wicked game
. I’ve been taking some videos of it, and I’ll put them up after a while.
Some pics of the case and tag (the red thing):

Managed to fix the damn problems with the comments in IE6. Site has been tested with IE6, 7, Opera and Firefox and should work 100%. Colours look a bit off in IE6 and 7, but its so minor its not worth tackling. Most of the site validates aswell so it should be ok.

Also, the ads, I decided to take them off again, but I kept the small Google + Firefox logo at the bottom of my sidebar. Decided there was no point in keeping them really.

It took a long time, but I’ve made some more changes to the site. The most obvious is the ad and the theme. I’ve tried to keep the ads simple and not too “in your face,” and I’ve decided to limit my ads to one per page. The ad will always stay in the same place (makes it easier to ignore
). I personally hate those sites that are just made of ads and no real content, so I’m trying to keep as few ads as possible.
The other thing is the new theme. I’ve had to make a few changes and customizations to make it what I wanted. The changes aren’t major, mostly minor code changes and won’t be noticeable. You’ve probably realized I ain’t the most php and web design savvy person, so I can’t be bothered to make huge changes to the theme. Anyway, as silly as it may sound, there may be bugs, I might have screwed up somewhere, so if you do find one, please let me know via my contact form or email in the About page. I know that the site is aligned all the way to the left in Internet Explorer, but I don’t have the time or effort to try and fix it, but the site looks fine in Firefox and Opera.
The third thing is a new gallery. You can find it by clicking on the “Picture Gallery” link under blog navigation. The slideshow in my sidebar is also linked to it, and the pictures change every 7 seconds. There isn’t much content there at the moment, but I’m planning to upload more stuff soon. I may also have to buy more space from my hosting company; I choose the tiny package when I signed up, but I didn’t think I would run out of space so quick.
Also, a Thank You to MrEggSalad from Neowin.net, who made my site icon.
Thats all for now, but I’ll post any changes I make.

Ok, I finally made the change to a new site, this time with a new host and domain. I enjoyed my old blog (http://zer0day.wordpress.com), but I decided I needed my own site. I’m still working on the site to make it look nice, but given my limited web design knowledge, don’t expect a miracle.
